Arsenal manager Arsene
Wenger is expected to rest several key players for their Carling Cup
tie. Captain Thierry Henry is likely to be left out along with
fellow Frenchman Robert Pires, forward Dennis Bergkamp and midfielder
Gilberto. Freddie Ljungberg, Alexander Hleb, Jose Antonio Reyes, Sol
Campbell and Ashley Cole are still out through injury. Last season
Arsenal's youngsters did well and reached the quarter-finals.
Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy insists Barclays Premiership survival
is more important than overcoming Arsenal in the third round of the
Carling Cup at the Stadium of Light tomorrow. He will leave out several
of his key players ahead of Saturday's crucial home game with relegation
rivals Portsmouth. Ben Alnwick is expected to replace Kelvin Davis in
goal and Danny Collins returning to central defence. Carl Robinson will
resume in midfield while £1.9million signing Jon Stead could start.
Tickets prices are slashed to 1/2 should be full capacity.
